Swami Lalitanandaji was invited to inaugurate the “Body, Mind and Soul: Wellness Workshop” at the Punjab National Bank Central Staff College, Delhi, by giving the inaugural address. The topic of the talk was “Yoga and Meditation for Body, Mind and Soul”.
Beginning his talk with a perspective on the topic of ‘Body, Mind and Soul’as explained by Gurudeva Sri Sri Paramahanas Yoganandaji, Swamiji explained how the terms have been used to define the purpose behind publishing of the Yogoda Satsanga Society of India (YSS) Quarterly Magazines.
Quoting the sentence that states the objective of the Magazine, he mentioned how the soul has a body and mind, and how the soul expresses itself through these two instruments.
“A magazine devoted to healing body, mind and soul: Healing the body of disease by proper diet, right living, and recharging the body with God’s all-powerful cosmic energy; removing inharmonies and inefficiency from the mind by concentration, constructive thinking, and cheerfulness; and freeing the ever perfect soul from the bonds of spiritual ignorance by meditation.”
Swamiji stressed that the health and harmonious condition of these two instruments – body and mind – are vital for the soul to express itself without any hindrance or obstruction.
He went on to throw light on the superior methods taught by YSS: the Energization Exercises – which help to draw cosmic energy into the body, keeping it healthy and young, and preparing it for meditation; the Hong-Sau technique – which increases the power of concentration which is the basis of all the other powers of the mind; and the Aum technique – which helps one to contact the source of all power, found manifest or latent in the universe.
In his talk, Swamiji also touched upon the sacred and ancient technique of Kriya Yoga, and how the above three techniques prepare the body and mind to practice it. At the close of the lecture, he enlisted the various topics dealt with in the YSS Lessons, and how one can avail of them by becoming a Lesson Student.
The whole talk was received with rapt attention by the attendees. A question and answer session followed where Swamiji addressed the questions of the participants. This generated a great enthusiasm in the participants and many expressed their desire to become Lessons Students of YSS.
