The commemoration programmes of the Mahasamadhi of Gurudeva Sri Sri Paramahansa Yogananda was celebrated across YSS Noida, Delhi and Gurgaon on March 7, 2018.
On the evening of March 7, Swami Sadanandaji gave satsanga at YSS Noida Ashram. Nearly 160 devotees attended the programme which included prayer, chanting and group meditation of about 40 minutes.
In his satsanga, Swamiji recalled various events pertaining to the life of Gurudeva Sri Sri Paramahansa Yogananda. On this occasion, Swamiji discussed the Guru-Disciple relationship in detail. He pointed out that Gurudeva can be contacted by keeping our attention at the kutastha. He quoted saint Kabir’s couplet, ‘Tirath Nahaye ek fal, Sant mile fal char, Sadguru mile anek fal, Kahe Kabir vichar’.
The programme was concluded with aarti followed by pushpanjali, and distribution of prasad to all attendees.
Simultaneously, Brahmachari Sheelanandaji conducted satsanga and pushpanjali at YSS Gurgaon Kendra to commemorate the Mahasamadhi of Gurudeva. About 72 devotees attended this programme in which Brahmachariji talked about how to charge ourselves with the flame of Spirit. He told us that it can be possible only when we meditate regularly and go deep in meditation, especially when our mind gets attuned with God and Gurus and our consciousness gets lifted so that we are able to maintain the bliss and peace felt during meditation even while doing other activities.
Earlier, on March 4, a six-hour-long meditation was also conducted at YSS Gurgaon Kendra in view of the Mahasamadhi anniversary of Sri Sri Paramahansa Yogananda. About 85 devotees joined in this meditation.
The commemoration was marked by a special meditation on March 7 at YSS Delhi Kendra, where Swami Lalitanandaji led the chanting and meditation, followed by a satsanga. Swamiji mentioned that these special days had immense potential in uplifting one’s consciousness. "The divine energy is so omnipresent and so strong especially on these days of Avirbhavas and Thirobhavas," he said. During these days there is a special vibration of blessings which can be felt by going deep in meditation with devotion. The presence and blessings of the Gurus can be felt more tangibly on these days than on other days.
He read relevant passages from the book “Only Love” where Sri Sri Daya Mataji talks about the Mahasamadhi of Guruji: starting from the time where Guruji enters the state of Nirbikalpa Samadhi in 1948, to the point in 1952, where he enters Mahasamadhi in Biltmore Hotel, with the words about India on his lips. These passages are so heart touching and carries such power to make one feel Gurudev’s divine presence. The devotees were deeply uplifted with the rememberance of the holy occasion.
After the satsanga, Swamiji conducted aarati. Devotees offered pushpanjali at the altar and received prasad from Swamiji..
